Think & Grow Rich Experiment

So I'm reading this book called Think & Grow Rich...

And I'm super intrigued by it. It's sorta like a more complex version of The Secret. It's written by Napoleon Hill and published in 1960. It's all about the power of thought. I'm gonna try to sum it up for you:

If you desire something ( a job, a car, etc.) you'll get it if.. you curve your thoughts to where your brain sees it as an obsession and soon will become a possession.

Now of course there are a lot more steps to actually achieving this, but its all mental labor, not manual. So I'm going to put this theory to the test!!!

I want $3,000 by the end of August to buy my Uncle's Lexus from him without dipping into my saving. I already have $800, so I only need $2,200 to go.

This book gives a six step process that has been approved by several successful people such as, Tomas Edition. I'm going to list the six step process below along with my thoughts.

From the book, "Think & Grow Rich" (pg. 17)

Six Ways to Turn Desires into Gold.
The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps:

FIRST: fix in your mind the exact amount of money you desire. It is not sufficent merely to say "I want plenty of money." Be definite as to the amount. (There is a psychological reason for definiteness which will be described in a subsequent chapter.)

The exact amount of money I desire is: $2,200.

SECOND: determine exactly what you intend to give in return for the money you desire. (There is no such reality as "something for nothing")

I plan to serve tables at my job and continue to do photoshoots for artists.

THIRD: establish a definite date when you intend to possess the money you desire.

I plan to possess the money I desire by Monday, August 31st, 2009.

FOURTH: create a definite plan for carrying out you desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put the plan into action.

My definite plan is to control my shopping problem and only buy a non-necessity item 1-2 times a week (believe me this is going to be a lot harder done than said for me). This will also include not eating out as much. Doing this along with saving the extra money I make will allow me to reach my desired amount.

FIFTH: write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money you intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what you intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which you intend to accumulate it.

SIXTH: read your written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As you read-- see and feel and believe yourself already in possession of the money
